In the event of an emergency, our role is to: 

  • Work closely with the Environment Agency, emergency services, and the Local Resilience Forum. Quick links to Local Resilience Forums: 
  • Keep pumping stations and key water control structures operating effectively. 
  • Monitor sensitive locations and remove restrictions during flood flows. 
  • Take prompt action to reduce flood risk to homes, essential services, businesses, and land. 
  • Keep the Environment Agency informed of any issues that may develop on main river systems. 
  • Advise Local Authorities if property is at risk of flooding. 
  • Inform landowners where necessary about potential flood risks. 
  • Support post-flood recovery, including remedial and clearance works. 

 

Our Emergency Priorities 

We respond in the following order of priority: 

  1. Protecting lives where people are at risk. 
  2. Addressing problems within the Board’s system. 
  3. Safeguarding vital public services. 
  4. Protecting residential properties. 
  5. Protecting commercial properties. 
  6. Protecting agricultural land and environmental assets. 
  7. Responding to issues caused by third-party systems (where costs are rechargeable).
