In the event of an emergency, our role is to:
- Work closely with the Environment Agency, emergency services, and the Local Resilience Forum. Quick links to Local Resilience Forums:

- Keep pumping stations and key water control structures operating effectively.
- Monitor sensitive locations and remove restrictions during flood flows.
- Take prompt action to reduce flood risk to homes, essential services, businesses, and land.
- Keep the Environment Agency informed of any issues that may develop on main river systems.
- Advise Local Authorities if property is at risk of flooding.
- Inform landowners where necessary about potential flood risks.
- Support post-flood recovery, including remedial and clearance works.
Our Emergency Priorities
We respond in the following order of priority:
- Protecting lives where people are at risk.
- Addressing problems within the Board’s system.
- Safeguarding vital public services.
- Protecting residential properties.
- Protecting commercial properties.
- Protecting agricultural land and environmental assets.
- Responding to issues caused by third-party systems (where costs are rechargeable).
