The old Crabbs Abbey pumping station building before demolition and the pumps before upgrades

Crabbs Abbey Electric Pumping Station, commissioned in 1987, the station comprises 2 electric pumps that lift water 10.2m into the Tidal Great River Ouse. The Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) equipment has reached end-of-life and has not previously undergone major refurbishment. Pumps will be replaced with modern, fish-friendly equivalents to meet current environmental standards.

Crabbs Abbey Pumping Station – replacement and upgrade works include:

  • Replacement of existing pumps with modern, fish-friendly units.
  • Installation of a new Motor Control Centre (MCC).
  • Installation of new siphon-breaker valves.
  • Upgrade of the electric supply and metering.
  • Demolition of old diesel pumping station and landscaping of site
